What to Bring

To ensure you’re comfortable and prepared, we recommend packing the following:

Clothing & Bedding

  • Sleeping bag and pillow

  • Layers of clothing, including at least one set of warm clothes

  • Rain gear (weather can change quickly)

Personal Items

  • Toiletries and towel

  • Sunglasses and sunscreen

  • Any prescription medications

  • Waterproof phone pouch with floating lanyard

  • Insect repellent and mosquito coils

  • Flashlight and matches

  • Small first aid kit

Camp Supplies

  • Dish soap, dish towels, and garbage bags

Fishing Gear

Please secure all hooks before travel — pilots appreciate rods without dangling tackle.

For walleyes, 3/8 oz. lead heads with twister tails (yellow, orange, white, or black) and power baits work well. Spoons and plugs are effective for northern pike. Bring your favorites and consider packing a spare rod in case of breakage.

Border Crossing

Proper identification is required for crossing into Canada. Please review current requirements at:

www.canadawelcomesyou.net

Important Information

  • Guests are allowed approximately 100 pounds per person due to aircraft weight limits.

  • Please pack belongings in secure, soft-sided duffel bags, plastic bins, or sturdy covered containers. Items have occasionally been lost between the floatplane and dock, so make sure everything is well secured.

  • Let us know in advance if you have any medical conditions, allergies, or dietary restrictions so we can best accommodate your needs.

Travel & Weather

Our camps are accessible by air only. Your cooperation and flexibility are appreciated. Bush pilots do not fly in unsafe weather conditions. While we will always do our best to keep you on schedule, safety comes first. Birch Bark Lodge cannot be held responsible for delays due to weather or circumstances beyond our control.

We look forward to welcoming you to Birch Bark Lodge — where great fishing, peaceful wilderness, and lifelong memories await.
